About GHRP-6
GHRP-6 (Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide-6) is a synthetic hexapeptide and one of the founding compounds in the GHRP class of research molecules. It stimulates GH secretion through two distinct mechanisms: agonism at the ghrelin receptor (GHSR-1a) and inhibition of somatostatin, the endogenous brake on GH release. This dual mechanism produces robust GH pulses — studies have demonstrated 7–15x elevations in GH above baseline following administration. GHRP-6 remains a cornerstone reference compound in GH secretagogue research due to its well-characterised pharmacology and decades of published data. Its notable secondary effect — a pronounced increase in appetite via ghrelin receptor activation — makes it particularly valuable in cachexia, appetite regulation, and energy homeostasis research. Unlike Ipamorelin, GHRP-6 produces secondary elevations in cortisol and prolactin, which researchers factor into protocol design when studying specific GH axis pathways. Pre-clinical studies have explored applications in cardiac protection, muscle wasting prevention, and IGF-1 axis modulation. Supplied at ≥99% HPLC purity with ESI-MS identity confirmation.
Usage Guidelines
✓ Suitable For
- Essential reference compound for GH secretagogue research programmes
- Ideal for appetite regulation cachexia and energy homeostasis studies
- Well-characterised pharmacology — decades of published literature available
- Suitable for GH pulse dynamics and IGF-1 axis modulation research
✗ Not Recommended For
- Monitor cortisol and prolactin in research subjects as these elevate alongside GH
- Not for use without proper training in peptide research protocols
- Individuals with cortisol-sensitive conditions should seek medical guidance before research involvement
- Not intended for human therapeutic use outside approved clinical settings
