About Selank

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) developed by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences as a stable analogue of tuftsin, an endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide. Classified as an anxiolytic peptide nootropic, Selank has accumulated a substantial body of published literature on its anxiolytic, antidepressant, and cognitive-enhancing properties. Its primary mechanism involves modulation of the GABA-A receptor system — producing anxiolytic effects comparable to benzodiazepines in rodent models without the sedation, tolerance, or dependency liability associated with that drug class. Additionally, Selank enhances expression of BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor), influences the stability of enkephalins, and modulates dopaminergic and serotonergic transmission, contributing to its nootropic and mood-stabilising profile. Studies have investigated Selank in generalised anxiety models, memory consolidation research, attention and focus paradigms, and immune-cognitive interaction studies. Its immunomodulatory properties derived from its tuftsin lineage have also been studied in the context of infection-related cognitive decline. Supplied at ≥99% HPLC purity.

Usage Guidelines

✓ Suitable For

  • Ideal for non-sedating anxiolytic mechanism research and GABA-A modulation studies
  • Suitable for BDNF upregulation memory consolidation and nootropic research
  • Immune-cognitive interaction models benefit from Selank's tuftsin-derived properties
  • Well tolerated in pre-clinical models — extensive research literature available

✗ Not Recommended For

  • Not a replacement for prescribed anxiolytic medications — for research contexts only
  • Consult a psychiatrist or neurologist before involvement in any protocol affecting anxiety or mood
  • Not recommended for individuals with active psychiatric conditions outside supervised research
  • Not intended for use without professional research or clinical oversight
